Remember proms? Hairspray, tuxes, and slow dancing to Stairway to Heaven? Well if you didn’t get the perfect dress or have the right date back then, now is your chance for a do-over. The Sheridan Arts Foundation cordially invites everyone to the first annual Adult Prom on Friday, Sept. 25, 2015. The event is a fundraiser for the foundation, the 501(c)3 non-profit that owns and operates the historic Sheridan Opera House. Tickets here: $30 each; $50 for couples.

The evening begins at 8 p.m. with a red carpet entrance. The theme, “Dancing through the Decades,” is an homage to all the awesomely cheesy proms you’ve ever attended over the years. Local Telluride band Spacegunner (Mishky, Ethan Hale, Sam Burgess, and Phil Hamilton) performs. There is a prom photo station to adult-promgrab a keepsake of the night, and attendees also get a free cup of spiked punch.

Retro prom attire is highly encouraged. A prom king and queen will be chosen based on the best-dressed couple of the night and the Opera House will pick up their bar tab.

A silent auction includes fun items: Mountainfilm Festival pass; a flyfishing and Patagonia package; massage; and much more.
