Noel Night in Telluride

telluride noel night

telluride noel night  Everyone loves spending money. But there’s nothing quite like the feeling of saving money, either. Noel Night in Telluride lets you do both. All day tomorrow, December 7, shops and stores in Telluride celebrate the holiday season with special discounts and deals.

Main street in Telluride is abuzz all day, and local retailers go all out to make the biggest shopping day of the year a festive occasion. Merchants serve snacks and appetizers, Tellurice Choral Society goes caroling, there is a tree lighting and the Nugget shows free G-rated movies so you can drop off the kids while you shop. Stores have all kinds of fun ways to get discounts, grab bags where you pull out a ticket marked with anything from “10% off” to “40% off,” bingo rounds, dice games, pull-a-bead, pull-a-needle and a wheel of fortune. This year you can get free chair massages, create your own sushi rolls, and drink your fill of eggnog, hot chocolate and cider.

Kids can also meet Santa, whose lap is open for business at the Toggery from 2:30-4:30, aboard the firetruck from 4-5 p.m., at the Alpine Bank from 5-6 p.m. and at the US Bank from 4:30-6:30. Over-booked, he is, but he should be able to pull it off with a little of that Christmas magic.

Wendy Basham has been at Telluride Trappings and Toggery for 18 years and she purchased the store with partner Todd Tice in 2004. Basham says that the annual event (this is the 25th anniversary of Noel Night) offers retailers a great preview of what their most discerning clientele—locals—will be buying this year. “Noel Night is special because is such a wonderful way to kick off the holiday season and to see  what people like from our new selection of winter goods.”
