The arts are an integral part of life in Telluride—the town has a host of art galleries and studio spaces, a full roster of music festivals and concerts, dance performances, comedy shows, a thriving theater culture, writing groups, film festivals, a school for the arts, and more. This week Telluride was recognized by the State of Colorado as one of just a handful of creative districts in the state.
The Colorado Creative District program was initiated in 2011 with an inaugural district in metro Denver. Additionally, 13 districts, one of which was Telluride, was granted “prospective” status. This week Telluride and four other districts were honored with full recognition as Colorado Creative Districts.
The other districts to earn recognition include our neighboring city of Ridgway, along with the Pueblo Creative Corridor, Corazon de Trinidad, and the North Fork Valley. Kudos to Telluride Arts and all the local artists for helping our community to earn this honor.
