Telluride is once again the only U.S. stop on the Snowboard World Cup circuit, and riders compete Dec. 14-17. Above is some footage from last year’s SBX (Snowboardcross) event. For the past three years, Telluride Ski Resort has been home to the World Cup, featuring PGS (parallel giant slalom) and SBX races that attract the best riders in the world. Don’t miss this year’s competition—below is a schedule and you can get additional information online at tellurideworldcup.com.
This year will also be special because it is the first time we’ve fielded a local rider at the event: Hagen Kearney earned one of the two coveted wild card spots for his performance at the training camp this week. Kearney will compete in the SBX race, and as spectators and competitors well know, the fast-paced, no-holds-barred style of a snowboardcross run means it can be anyone’s day to win.
