Ernie Watts, the grammy-award winning tenor saxophonist and flautist, is the guest of honor at this weekend’s 39th Annual Telluride Jazz Festival. Watts will be joined by some other incredible performers, the The M&Ms (Papa Mali, John Medeski, Stanton Moore & Rob Mercurio), the one and only Maceo Parker, Bill Frisell Trio, and a host of great musical acts.
Jazz is always one of the best musical weekends because it invites the unexpected: the improvisational jams, the juncture of funk/soul/jazz genres, and the fun Mardi-Gras marching parade on Sunday. You can’t help but feel the vibe during Jazz Fest. Watts sums up the power of music best: ““I see music as the common bond having potential to bring all people together in peace and harmony. All things in the physical world have vibration; the music I choose to play is the energy vibration that touches a common bond in people.”
