In Telluride, as huge crowds await the stage one finish of the USA Pro Cycling Tour, the buzz is reaching feverish levels. Tents are lined up along the main thoroughfare and people are already positioning chairs down the street near the finish. On Saturday, some Telluride locals helped kick off the event with an irreverent tribute to cycling:a pre-race fun cruiser criterium around town. Thanks to Matt Steen for organizing the crit and for Brett Schreckengost for the video above.
If you didn’t make it to Telluride before the streets shut down for the finish, you can follow the action online at http://radioshacktourtracker.usaprocyclingchallenge.com/. If you are lucky, you might even hear former Telluride Daily Planet editor and Telluride Magazine writer (and current Velo News contributor) Matt Beaudin weigh in with his thoughts on the race.
