We all know that exercise is good for you, but if you’ve ever had trouble finding motivation or inspiration to get fit, then the WOW (Weekend of Wellness) Festival in Telluride this weekend, June 9–12, is the place to be.
The third annual WOW Festival celebrates all things fitness with classes, sun rise hikes, motivational speakers, and the best personal trainers in the world. There’s something for everyone to enjoy—from scavenger hunts and hikes, to seminars about reversing the biological clock, nutrition, and the do’s and don’ts of exercising for spine and joint health, to classes of every color for every athletic level in yoga, Pilates, cycling, and even gyrokinesis. You can see the whole schedule here.
This year’s inspiring presenters include world-class mountaineer Hilaree O’Neill, whose expeditions on Everest and beyond have captured the hearts and minds of aspiring climbers, skiers, and athletes; Shane Niemeyer, author of The Hurt Artist memoir and an elite triathlete who overcame his troubled adolescence (psych units, rehab, jail, and even a suicide attempt) and became an expert on human motivation and exercise; and Bill Fabrocini, a prestigious clinical specialist in orthopedic physical therapy and sports performance training coach, co-founder of Aspen Core Fitness, who has worked with a broad range of athletes including Olympic medalists, NBA, NFL, and NHL athletes, the U.S. Ski Team, professional soccer players, Grand Slam Tennis and golf Champions, professional ballet dancers, world class runners, professional cyclists, and everyday athletes of all ages.
The most important step in any wellness or fitness campaign is the first. Check out some of the great seminars, take a class, and step out of your comfort zone this weekend. You might leave a little sore, but you’ll also leave with a wealth of wisdom, inspiration, and motivation to embark on your personal journey to being happier and healthier.
